Dr. Irina Mihaescu
Dr. Irina Mihaescu is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Consultant Psychiatrist at the University of Alberta (U of A) and the Centre de Santé Saint-Thomas in Edmonton, Canada.
She is the founder/director of the Centre for Physician Wellness and Synergy Mental Health – a group therapy practice that unites her interests in trauma-informed care and community healing. At the U of A Department of Psychiatry, she supervises and teaches residents in general psychiatry and longitudinal psychotherapy. She also leads the revamping of the Grand Rounds speaker series, which promotes inclusive conversations in mental health.
Previously, she worked as a peer support clinician for the Physician Family Support Program, a trauma-informed leadership facilitator and trainer for Alberta Health Services, and a clinical consultant for the Canadian Armed Forces.
Dr. Mihaescu provides professional coaching to various leaders in the medical field and is a strong proponent of self-care and personal growth. Through her diverse roles, she inspires others on the importance of prioritizing mental wellness in all aspects of life.
Her approach is integral, holistic, insight-oriented, and strengths-based. She blends multiple evidence-based modalities in her psychotherapy sessions.
